About Ardy Riego

Teaching Philosophy: To be able to create a relationship with my students that go beyond the academic and curriculum standards. My goal is to be able to create a community with my students that will engage them to see the world with an open mind and an open dialogue. I would like to be able to redirect their thinking to look far beyond the superficial layer of education; to teach them that the academic portion of it all is merely half the battle, and simply to teach them to value themselves. Athletic Training Philosophy: My approach to Athletic Training lies heavily on preventative medicine. I truly believe that most injuries occur due to compromised anatomy and under-developed specific motor patterns. To decrease the risk of injuries, I like looking away from the site of symptoms and figuring out where the "root-cause" is. I do this by identifying the dysfunctional movement patterns, implementing the use of hands-on manual therapy, and prescribing the athlete/patient/client with corrective exercises. I have Certified Athletic Training experiences in youth-sports, high-school athletics, collegiate-athletics (D2 and community), performing arts, senior-Olympics, and Olympic developmental teams.
