About Ariana Lacson

I'm a recent Biomedical Engineering graduate with a strong foundation in both hands-on laboratory work and strategic leadership. I am currently a Product Technical Development Intern at Genentech, where I am developing expertise in protein analytical chemistry by pioneering R&D for a novel Capillary Electrophoresis (CE-SDS) device and contributing to high-impact pipeline projects. My passion for impactful work is also reflected in my previous research experiences. In my senior research project, I investigated ADPKD, using advanced molecular biology and bioinformatics to pioneer a methodology for genetic analysis. Prior to this, my research involved implementing tFucci(CA)5 biosensors in cardiomyocytes to visualize cell cycle progression, which strengthened my proficiency in a variety of wet-lab techniques. As an R&D Operations Intern at Athelas, I managed patient sample collection and contributed to an FDA 510(k) submission, gaining valuable experience in clinical and regulatory processes. Beyond the lab, I served as the Student Body President & CEO of Associated Students at San José State University, where I led a 13-member Board of Directors and oversaw a $10M+ 501(c)(3) non-profit auxiliary organization. I thrive in collaborative environments and am driven to bridge the gap between science and policy to create meaningful change in healthcare. As I look toward the future, I am planning to apply to graduate school to pursue a career in strategic development and executive leadership within the biotech industry.
