About Ariane Menden

My Bachelor studies triggered my excitement for the science of life and gave me an idea of the variety of research fields. During the lab courses and internships in different laboratories, I became more interested in molecular biology and diagnostic applications in particular the diagnostic test development and protein engineering. During two lab rotations at Celltrend GmbH, Luckenwalde, and at Roche Diagnostics GmbH, Germany, my interest intensified towards assay development as well as protein engineering. Subsequently, I participated in the Natural Products and Experimental Therapeutics Program at the University of Hawaii Cancer Center in order to complete my master thesis and to gain international work experiences, in the field of LCMS test development. Finally, I was selected as a PhD student by the Roskamp Institute in Florida, where I currently optimize the allosteric modulation of digestive enzymes and investigate their potential impact in the gut microbiome.
