U.S. Army Reserves Veteran | Nonprofit Founder | Youth Advocate | Community Organizer | Speaker I’m Aric Bowens, Founder and President of the Elyria Youth Sports Club and several other impactful youth programs serving Lorain County and surrounding areas. My passion is rooted in empowering young people through sports, leadership training, mentorship, and community building. As a proud U.S. Army Reserves Veteran, I bring discipline, structure, and mission-focused leadership to every initiative I lead. Since founding the Elyria South Baseball Club, which began with over 80 kids in its first season, I’ve expanded our reach with Elyria Youth Track Club, Elyria Youth Chess Club, and Elyria Youth Bowling—programs that now serve over 200 children annually. Our mission is clear: create inclusive, safe environments that foster personal growth, skill development, and community pride. Beyond sports, I’m an experienced event planner, public speaker, and advocate for fatherhood, joint custody rights, and mental health equity. I’ve served on boards including Lorain County Mental Health and Minority Student Objective, while receiving numerous honors for service—such as the 2025 NABVETS Award, 2024 African American Community Foundation Award, and several NAACP recognitions. I’m also the host of Speak Up and Speak Out, a community-centered podcast amplifying local voices on parenting, empowerment, and social justice.
