About Arief Prabowo

My journey with computers began in the 90s on a Gateway 486DX, where I first learned BASIC and Turbo Pascal. The first computer virus I encountered was the infamous Stoned boot sector virus or its variant, an experience that sparked my curiosity about computer viruses. I began my career in security by creating PCMAV (PC Media AntiVirus), Indonesia's first widely adopted antivirus, which protected millions of users during the peak of local malware outbreaks. Before specializing in cybersecurity, I also worked in the aviation industry as a licensed Flight Dispatcher or Flight Operation Office (FOO), specializing in Boeing classic series operations, a background that taught me the value of precision, discipline, and safety in high-stakes environments. During this time, my programming knowledge allowed me to build a system that automatically calculated aircraft load and balance for Boeing 737 Classic aircraft, combining operational safety with engineering. Today, I work as a security engineer and malware researcher, focusing on malware analysis, reverse engineering, and EDR/XDR detection engineering. I also design and build internal analysis tools, detection logic, and telemetry pipelines that help analysts respond to threats more effectively. Ultimately, my work is about protecting users — transforming research and detection into real-world defenses against security threats.
