About Ariel Halpern

I have been working with public and private natural resource management and rural development programs and projects for the past 14 years. I have been able to prove that exchange between peers and promotion on good practices by so called ‘Local Champions’ facilitate rural pro-poor investments with corresponding impact in the field, at project, country and regional level. My role has been many-sided as strengthening PROCASUR network within Latin American and other continents, enhancing new institutions in Africa and Asia and leading teams of public and private stakeholders towards better policies, investments performance and sustainability. In close cooperation with the development community, I am part of teams that successfully scaled up various capacity building, knowledge management and networking tools, such as the Local Champions Platform, the Learning Routes training system, the inclusion of Rural Youth and Indigenous People in natural resource management and development projects and the facilitation of Communities of Practice. Main achievements 1. Managing more than 40 development practitioner teams and over 100 professionals from 25 different nationalities since 2006. Counting with solid professional skills based on field exposure to address natural resource management and rural poverty in a holistic, multistakeholder and interdisciplinary way. Leading programs and projects of PROCASUR that have leveraged over 10 million USD since 2006. Being able and accountable to achieve and show tangible results in the fields of natural resource management and rural development in over 15 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia and Africa.
