About Ariel Okamoto

Ariel Okamoto currently serves as Senior Grant and Communications Writer for Polaris, where she supports the Development team by researching, writing, and managing requests for institutional funding for the organization's work fighting human trafficking. She also supports other fundraising, marketing, and programmatic writing, helping to unify and amplify Polaris's organizational voice. Previously, she spent nearly five years with UCLA, writing development marketing collateral, and six years with The Olin Group, Inc, an Orange County-based consulting firm providing grant writing, evaluation, strategic planning, and philanthropic services. She has also worked on international development proposals as a short-term volunteer at CARE International UK and supported faith-based efforts to build awareness and prevention around the issue of human trafficking in Southern California.With an academic background in creative writing, Ariel brings a unique perspective to content development. She earned a BA in English from Biola University and MAs in English and Comparative Literature from California State University, Los Angeles, and the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, where both her master’s theses examined intersections of humanitarianism and literature.
