I am passionate about how healthcare operations costs can be reduced, if insurance companies were required to provide better information. And want to find ways to remove insurance/provider contracts so that there is less cost consideration, and more care. I am passionate about the benefits of lifestyle medicine. Living so as to move the body, eat nutritiously with many vitamins & minerals, mindfulness, improved health knowledge, and gratitude practice are Medicine, and disease preventions. I do not want to monetize time in nature or count the minutes of conversation with a friend so I can be paid by an insurance company. But if this is where the medicine is—I want to create systems where lifestyle medicine is the default. I'm passionate about putting Wellness programs back into healthcare rather than the workplace. When wellness is misdirected to workplace programs health behavior is linked to habit instead of lifestyle and available as a choice (usually for the rich) rather than the medicine they are. I am passionate about changing perceptions around social determinants of health. To redirect the burden of responsibility for health to the systems and policies that suppress being well, rather than the individuals that are affected by the systems. I am passionate about the value of place and how priceless community knowledge and experience are in healthcare. I'm passionate about the idea that change is good, and going forward is not the only way to progress. I am passionate about acknowledging ancient wisdom. We use centuries old knowledge in pharmaceuticals, which insurance companies cover. Insurance should also cover programs of indigenous wisdom and practice in medical clinics. I am passionate about the power of community in healing. Shared experiences, new approaches, perspective change, and courage happen in greater measure in community. I am passionate about collecting the data to tell the story, because the evidence exists, we just need to link the pearls together so others can see the beauty of it.
