About Arien Halvorson

Since graduating from North Central University in 2022, I have served and grown as a professional educator in a variety of capacities. While student teaching in Honduras at a rural private school, I developed strategies for cross-cultural communication and pedagogy. In addition, I succeeded in designing and implementing rigorous units in Language Arts, Science, and Math for emerging bilingual students. After graduating, I worked as a substitute teacher for Forest Lake Independent School District 831. While jumping into elementary, middle school, and high school classrooms, I increased my confidence, presence, and aptitude for flexibility as a teacher. At my current position, I have developed meaningful relationships with students, parents, teaching professionals, and support staff. These provide the connections necessary for implementing tools, ideas, and activities that engage and encourage a thriving class of students. In addition, I have challenged and strengthened myself as a teacher by using project-based learning units, visual aids, interpersonal learning activities, and differentiation strategies. Through this assortment of experiences, I have blossomed into a more passionate and inquisitive teacher in the areas of classroom management, content knowledge, differentiation, communication, assessment, and relational teaching.
