About Arienne Walters

As a seasoned UX Director with over 25 years in the digital design industry, I bring deep expertise in user-centered design, agile methodologies, and digital transformation; particularly within complex government and enterprise environments. Currently at By Light, I serve as UX Director across multiple VA contracts, most notably leading UX for My HealtheVet, the Department of Veterans Affairs’ flagship digital health portal. I built By Light’s UX practice from the ground up, growing a small team into a large highly capable, cross-functional group of designers and researchers. The culture I cultivated has been consistently praised, for its collaboration, mentorship, and the genuine enjoyment team members feel working together each day. I hold a Public Trust clearance and am certified as both a SAFe® Agile Practitioner and NN/g UX Management professional. I thrive in agile environments and actively contribute to proposal writing and strategy for new government contracts, helping By Light position UX as a core driver of value and innovation. At the heart of my leadership is a belief in people, supporting team members in their growth, empowering autonomy, and ensuring UX remains both strategic and human-centered. Whether working on healthcare portals, financial systems, or large-scale transformations, my approach always centers on empathy, clarity, and systems thinking.
