Background
About Arif Mohammed
I am a passionate Mechanical Engineer with nearly 4 years of industry experience, specializing in the development of products and manufacturing processes within the Robotics and Medical Equipment sectors. My expertise lies in transitioning sophisticated products from prototyping to high-volume production, applying the principles of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA). My proficiency extends to Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using SolidWorks and Ansys, as well as coding in MATLAB, Python, and C++. As a Robotics Applications Engineer at Tutor Intelligence, I am dedicated to improving human lives by reducing repetitive, physical labor in industries. My current projects involve developing innovative vacuum grippers and pneumatic actuated finger grippers for packaging industries, cable and pneumatic tube routing and handling systems for End of Arm Tooling (EOAT) on robots, and strain relief systems for cables. I also generate Unified Robot Description Format (URDF) files and merge them into the codebase for manipulations. I hold a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florida, where I served as a Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant. My research involved implementing motion planning algorithms and developing hardware for autonomous vehicles. As a TA, I assisted professors in developing class materials and assignments, and provided constructive feedback on student designs, emphasizing product life cycle, DFM, and DFA principles. At Radoratory Technologies Private Limited, I led a team of nine engineers in the development of sophisticated medical devices for hematology analysis. My role at Skyton Industries involved production planning and tooling development for high-volume production of sheet metal parts and machining process development for new components manufacturing. During my year-long internship at Makino India Private Limited, I gained valuable experience in developing fixtures for CNC Milling machines to produce precise, high-volume components for the Automobile and Aerospace industries. In addition, I have gained hands-on experience in manufacturing by actively assisting in our family business, where we produce precise components for the Automobile and Defense industries.
