I am a committed healthcare professional with a keen interest in improving access and experience for patients, their families, and support networks. I have particular expertise in facilitation and mediation – having studied principles of adult learning –I enjoy learning myself, and teaching others. A high-functioning team delivers strong results, which is why I’m proud of my track record of helping others to grow, succeed, and achieve their goals. Supporting team members to observe and identify needs, and to take appropriate action, is personally and professionally rewarding. I believe in striving for continuous improvement, and attempt to lead by example; expanding my learning and considering alternate approaches, and inspiring those around me to do the same. In my experience, when managed correctly, positive change benefits all stakeholders. Some success stories include:* Improving departmental, inter-departmental, and inter-organizational processes for staff and patients by leveraging project management tools to effectively facilitate working groups.* Facilitating hospital discharge – receiving positive patient feedback and raising hospital profile – by overcoming resistance to champion and implement coordinated care plans.* Improving patient care and assisting staff by increasing ability to identify and manage delirium; surveying staff knowledge, providing re-education, addressing misunderstandings, and rolling out screening tool. In my personal life I love stories. I enjoy reading, hearing, and telling stories, and when camping in National and Provincial parks I learn the story of each park. This is a trait I leverage in my work life. I am acutely aware that each patient has a story, and this motivates me to provide the best care possible.
