Background

About Arlitha H.

My career has been devoted to improving the lives of college students through fiscal accountability, integrated processes, and the removal of barriers to their success. I bring a broad perspective to this important work. My solid grounding in financial management and administration occurred as I advanced steadily as an accountant with financial institutions, private corporations, and civic government. I then transitioned into the field of education, working as a District Business Manager within a Mississippi school district. From there, I accepted the position of Vice President of Finance & Administrative Services at the Kern Community College District in Porterville, California. Then, l became the District’s Chief Financial Officer. l currently serve as the Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration (CFO) at Jacksonville State University in Northern Alabama. Such generous exposure to the world of higher education has given me a holistic view of its challenges and its enduring potential for positive social change. I approach my work as a staunch advocate for students and as a true business partner with my colleagues and the wider community. I am particularly interested in eliminating in-house silos that militate against success, while also ensuring that every student receives the support needed to flourish beyond their college years.
