About Armando Carlone

Prior to be appointed to my current position, I worked for over 6 years as an R&D scientist in the pharma industry and my academic background is in organocatalysis and molecular motors and machines. My current research interests lie in organocatalysis, applied chemistry, asymmetric catalysis, and supramolecular chemistry; in general, I am interested in disruptive ideas and innovative catalysis and chemistry. I am also keen to discuss and think about new ways of doing routine tasks to facilitate the end-user’s experience. For this reason, I am interested, but not limited to, about food chemistry and technology, fragrances, perfumes and washing liquids and powders and how to enhance their use and delivery. I am always open to talk and to rethink about any area where chemistry may be involved and could help. I believe in the positive and critical role, along with the responsibility, that science and science communication can have in our society – I devote, therefore, my time with a number of associations to advance the role of science and to communicate it to the general public.
