About Armin Gamper
My research goals are to find proteins that are drug targets for cancer treatment (such as radiosensitizers for radiation therapy) or biomarkers that increase the predictive value of therapeutic outcome. My papers examine the mechanisms governing the signalling pathways from DNA damage sensing to the activation of stress-response genes; including the role of chromatin in p53-dependent transcription; the role of Krüppel-like factor 4 (KLF4) stability on colon cancer formation; the regulation of DNA replication by ATM as well as the function of ATR in the response to ionizing radiation. My research plan for the next 5 years is to study the activation of the sensors of DNA double strand breaks and the posttranslational regulation of the transcription factor KLF4, a cell specific tumor suppressor or oncogene.
