About Arnaud Grignard

Arnaud Grignard is a computer scientist specialized in complex systems modelling, information visualization, agent-based modelling and tangible interface. Graduated from from the engineering schools CPE Lyon in 2008, he received his PhD in Computer Science from l’université Pierre et Marie Curie - UPMC in 2015. Since 2016, he has been a Research Scientist in the City Science group at the MIT Media Lab working on multiple applications of modeling theory using evidence-based or data-driven simulations. He develops a new approach called agent-based visualization to handle real-time visualization tasks applied both to data and simulation outputs. In 2021, he received a Marie Curie Fellowship and joined the Université de Lyon in the LIRIS laboratory to apply his research on Reactive Agent-based Tangible simulation for decision making in urban studies (ReAgent). Since 2011, Grignard has been one of the principal developers of the GAMA Platform, an agent-based modeling environment for the generation of spatially explicit simulations. His research has been applied in many different contexts, namely university research laboratories (MIT Media Lab, CNRS, IRD, UPMC,ENS Lyon, Tongji University), public research departments (UNDP,UN- Habitat, BDI, Pasteur Institute), IT companies (Philips Research, Boston Consulting Group, Bouygues, EDF, Wanxiang) and architecture firms (Norman Foster Fundation, PCA Stream).
