Automotive powertrain are designed and developed to reach and guarantee performances (power, fuel consumption), compliance (emissions, diagnostics), customer experience (drivability) and mechanical robustness respecting quality, price, planning and production capacity targets. Regarding CO2 regulations within the European community, 3 kinds of electrified powertrain are proposed, the mild hybrid ones with low ZEV capacity, the full hybrid ones with middle ZEV capacity, the full EV ones with full ZEV capacity, leading to increasing CO2 benefits. They are adapted, integrated and validated to each vehicle configuration respecting their roll out plan, taking into account quality previous generation feedbacks, cost targets, production targets and new customer experiences. The development of conventional engines & electrified powertrain needs experience and skills such as multi disciplinary teams management, customer mindset, expenses and quality control, expertise and knowledge in engine design, software and calibration.
