About Aron Wates

A highly analytical and personable individual, contributing to a team through an ability to analyse and critique as well as drive discussion, ensuring successful outcomes. Analytical skills were developed in a dual-role, working in Corporate Debt Capital Markets and US Private Placement teams, following a Masters with Distinction in Finance and undergraduate degree in Economics at Durham University. Extensive work experience prior to current role in specialised fields such as Investment Banking with Barclays Corporate Investment Bank, and Audit with PwC. Participation in summer internships in these financial institutions improved business acumen, as well as strengths in analysing large quantities of financial data. These capabilities were applied to further specialisation with a Masters in Finance at Durham University. Soft skills including teamwork, leadership and customer service were developed through a broad range of work experience and personal interests. Leadership strengths accumulated as Supervisor of the College Cafe alongside completing a Masters Degree. Working in a high-end supermarket during subsequent Covid-19 lockdowns resulted in an ability to cooperate with colleagues to ensure customers were prioritised and at ease despite the high-pressure, uncertain environment. These qualities ensure a strong fit in Financial Services roles.
