About Arron Walker

I’ve worked as a Digital Learning Developer for the past 8 years, and I’m currently a Senior Digital Learning Developer at Tapi. One of my favourite things about Tapi is that the people and leadership team recognise skills, rather than just job titles. This is important to me because whilst my job title hasn’t changed often, my roles, skills and the value I can add have evolved significantly over the years. My career began with me building Storyline courses and Animations, with Articulate and Adobe software. I’ve been very lucky at Tapi and in prior roles to have had the autonomy and trust to deliver solutions which go beyond a simple Storyline course or AfterEffects Animation. Although Storyline courses and animations serve a purpose I believe tangible positive change within a business necessitates a more comprehensive approach. This involves engaging with learners and stakeholders to discern their requirements, establishing a robust digital toolkit, and leveraging rich data and analytics. Prioritising user-friendliness with technology seamlessly facilitating the user experience rather than hindering it. This is where I do my best work. I’ve invested a lot of time during my career learning HTML, JavaScript, CSS, UI Design and spent time working with Ubuntu Web Servers. As well as getting to grips with xAPI. Using the skills mentioned above I’ve built everything from widgets for Learning Management Systems to deploying 3 internal websites with Ubuntu Live Server, MySQL and Ghost. This also involved setting up Newsletters and integrating transactional emails and Google Analytics. I firmly believe training should be a campaign or an experience, underpinned by modern web technologies. But I'm pragmatic and I can see that sometimes, traditional digital learning courses are the best choice.
