About Arslan Tariq

I am Arslan Tariq a bioinformatician.I am a PhD researcher at the Institute for Biological Data Science at HHU, working under the distinguished guidance of Prof. Dr. Björn Usadel. My focus is on the complex fields of plant genomes and pangenomics, where I am trying to solve the molecular puzzles that underlie botanical life. I have completed my master's in bioinformatics from COMSATS University Islamabad, where I also worked as a research assistant under the Higher Education Commission (HEC) NRPU project entitled,"Investigation of photothermal stress response in Pakistani soybean cultivars using Next-Generation sequencing (NGS)". I have a special interest in transcriptomic data and metagenomic data. I have also developed a pipeline to investigate SNPs from transcriptomic data in my master's final year project. In my Bachelor's, I worked on small RNAs identification using the in-silco approach. I developed a pipeline to identify the sRNA from the Psychrobacter aquaticus and perform comparative analysis to identify those small RNAs that play a crucial role in cold stress. I have extensive experience in NGS data analysis including genomics, transcriptomics, and metagenomics. My primary skills are: Linux, R/Biocunctor, and bash scripting. I also have a basic level of experience in Python and Perl. I have a keen interest in machine learning usage in genomics.
