About Arthur Decarlo
We are working to develop a central nervous system (CNS) map for regulation of intraocular pressure (IOP). Improved pharmacological modulation of IOP might be achieved by understanding CNS pathways of IOP regulation. Chronically high IOP can lead to retinal damage, optic nerve damage, and blindness. Arthur DeCarlo, DDS, PhD, in Dr. Samuels’ laboratory, presented "IOP Elevation by GABAa Disinhibition of the Nucleus Raphe Pallidus" in the Glaucoma Pharmacology session at the International Society for Eye Research on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia on Wednesday, Feb. He then gave an invited lecture at the University of Sydney Eye Hospital to the Save Sight Institute on March 1 entitled "Development of a CNS IOP Connectome."
