Science interests: Underwater sound propagation data analysis, underwater acoustic propagation modeling. Remus underwater vehicle (AUV) operator for acoustics research. Localization and tracking of underwater sources, marine mammals. Science responsibilities: Understanding and modeling acoustic propagation, mostly low frequency acoustics in shallow water, to study 1) sound traveling through fronts and ocean internal waves, 2) ambient noise in the ocean, and 3) sound propagation from and received by marine mammals. Acoustic data analysis and its relationship to the oceanography. Scientific logistics coordinator for oceanography experiments and principle investigator on some at-sea experiments.
