About Arthur Purser

As a Graduate Research Assistant at The University of Manchester, I have specialised in incorporating advanced methods in linear algebra into kinetic simulations, contributing to a major interdisciplinary journal. I have also applied this modelling approach to new problems which were previously intractable to the SOTA Monte Carlo approach. I was awarded a Best Poster prize for my work and presentation in this area. During my Master's in Chemistry, I have contributed to four group projects, all graded at first level and in all three my individual contributions received specific praise. I have received strong praise for my project and report work, including several projects graded over 90% and one lab project graded 100%. I sought ought creative mathematical methods to augment analytical experiments with multivariate statistics and ML classification, and incorporated DFT into kinetic experiments to rationalise reactivities which were inconsistent with textbook explanation. I used MatLab, Julia, Python and Mathematica to implement my approaches. My scientific creativity and clarity of communication are consistently highlighted in feedback. I attained a first in all four collaborative projects I undertook in university and was an active member of student Life. I am a mature student with previous work experience in sensitive, pressurised, and dangerous environments. I have a track record for meeting targets under time and other pressures, face to face with clients and the public.
