About Arthur Taft

Hi, my name is Arthur, and I am a current Cybersecurity student at Southern Utah University. One thing about me is that I love any and all things computers. I have been tinkering with and learning about computers for most of my life. Through my experiences across hardware configuration, learning about emerging technologies, and a little bit of software development, I learned about the importance of cybersecurity, and the major role it plays in the technology industry today. My passion for cybersecurity lies heavily in ensuring system and network security. Ensuring that threat actors are unable to gain access to machines or traverse a network is a vital component of good cybersecurity. This requires not only an understanding of Windows and macOS devices, but also Linux machines as well. Linux is one of the most used server operating systems in the world, and is beginning to emerge more into the desktop market every year. Being well-versed in security practices across all these operating systems allows for greater attention to detail and a more secure environment overall. Despite my love of getting into the nitty-gritty of computer systems, I also enjoy playing the Trombone in my spare time. I have been playing since middle school, and am devoted to keeping up this talent as long as I am physically able to play. I have played with the SUU Thunderbird Marching Band, and SUU Sound Machine Basketball Band, with our most noticeable performance being in Las Vegas, Nevada for an event at the beginning of the 2025 Formula 1 Racing Season.
