About Arto Vaas

I’ve been working in software quality for over 12 years now, and during that time I’ve had the chance to lead QA efforts in a wide range of projects — from banking and e-commerce to telecom and national public sector systems. In the last 7+ years, I’ve focused mostly on test management: building test strategies, planning acceptance testing, and helping teams work more efficiently. I’ve often found myself in roles where I help bridge the gap between development and the business side, making sure both are heard and quality doesn’t fall through the cracks. While I enjoy the planning side of things, I still like to stay involved in hands-on testing. It gives me a clearer picture of the real challenges and helps me support testers and stakeholders better. In recent years, I’ve also worked on introducing test automation and performance testing into projects where those practices were missing, often with tools like JMeter, Gatling, and Jenkins. On top of that, I’ve coached testers, supported business users during UAT phases, and helped shape internal QA processes from the ground up. In addition to my client work, I’ve contributed to software education. I co-developed and delivered a project-based software testing course at TalTech in collaboration with Mobiililabor partner companies. I’ve also taught practical software testing modules at Tartu Vocational Education Centre, with a focus on hands-on test design and QA practices for future IT specialists. I believe good software comes from good communication and smart teamwork. I try to support that in every project I’m part of.
