About Artur Javmen

I am a dedicated scientist and scientific manager specializing in cell therapy. Also, I am Lean enthusiast and strong supporter of Continuous Improvement concept. Currently, I hold the position of R&D Supervisor at Thermo Fisher Scientific. Prior to my role as a group supervisor, I served as a Senior Scientist at Thermo, focusing on Cell Therapy products within the corporate sector. Before transitioning to the bioindustry, I dedicated a number of years to academia. Thus, I earned my PhD from Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas, Lithuania, and subsequently completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the School of Medicine, University of Maryland, Baltimore, USA. During my tenure at SOM UMB, I led original and innovative projects that made significant contributions to the field of innate immunity. Our work deepened the understanding of Toll-like receptor (TLR) signaling, resulting in patented experimental results by the University of Maryland. On the overall, I am the author of ten scientific publications and two international patent applications. My experience includes managing relatively large project teams from the R&D perspective, overseeing the implementation of long-term tasks, and aligning their activities with other departments and sites. I take great pride in my team's successful execution of various tasks during the development of the new cGMP-grade product – CTS™ Detachable Dynabeads™ CD3/CD28 In addition to my managerial skills, I possess an extensive technical skill set encompassing the majority of techniques commonly used in immunology and molecular biology. I also have significant experience in small animal models and preparative techniques, including cloning, recombinant proteins, and chromatography. Furthermore, I am deeply intrigued by the potential of novel management systems, with “Lean” methodology in particular capturing my interest. Currently, I am actively studying Lean techniques to enhance my skill set and contribute to process optimization, with a focus on maximizing the efficient utilization of company resources. On a personal level, I am known for my commitment, tenacity, and reliability both as a manager and researcher. I have a strong appetite for learning and can quickly adapt to new roles and challenges.
