Arun is a Director of Engineering Security team at Okta, a leading identity and access management platform. He has more than 15 years of industry experience in various domains of security, such as security architecture and engineering, secure software development lifecycle, security operations and risk management. He holds CISSP and CEH certifications, as well as the Advanced Cloud Security Practitioner credential from the Cloud Security Alliance. Arun leads a distributed team of talented and formidable platform and data security SMEs who drive consistent engagement and execution of security initiatives across Okta's engineering organization. He has a proven track record of delivering large and complex cross-cutting software development security projects successfully, using agile and scrum methodologies. He has a strong development background in Java, Node.js, and C++ stacks, and has extensive expertise in cryptography, PKI, TLS, SAML, OAuth, OIDC and JOSE framework/specifications(such as JWT, JWE etc). He has also worked on industry-leading solutions for DoS/DDoS mitigation, rate limiting, CAPTCHAs, key management systems, secrets management, vulnerability management and OWASP Top 10 mitigation. He is passionate about evangelizing and enforcing security best practices within engineering realms, conducting security trainings and presentations, providing security consultation and direction, and participating in bug bounty efforts.
