Background

About Arun Madhusudanan

One aspect that has improved through my work experience in a manufacturing industry and postgraduate studies is my ability of critical thinking. Though my time working in Toyota was just 2 years, the exposure from bottom-up in the organizational structure starting as a management trainee to a team lead was a big learning curve on collaboration, partnership, and teamwork in a corporate enterprise. I was well trained in the concepts of lean management, lean six sigma, QMS, JIT, and Kanban Systems. During this time, was involved and the team lead of several projects that included internal and external logistics optimization and QCC (Quality control circle) team which we had won the bronze medal in an inter-department assessment within the company. The exposure to lean supply chain while working in Toyota intrigued me in this field which led to my decision to pursue a postgraduate course from a top university in Australia. One key skill that I have gained is the ability to do in-depth research and analysis. Assessment tasks involved business case study evaluation, project task reporting, and validation of findings. Using tools like SWOT analysis, Scenario analysis, Risk assessment analysis, SCRUM, Porter's Five forces value chain analysis and Kraljic's purchasing model. Some of these tools and techniques were used extensively in a business research project with UOW Motorsport FSAE-A to optimize procurement, process management, and inventory control. More than tools and techniques, the understanding of cultural imperatives in a business environment irrespective of the scale and size is something I learned is valuable in a global supply chain.
