About Arushi Das

I’ve always been curious about what makes us biologically unique - how that tiny 0.1% difference in our DNA can influence everything from disease risk to how we respond to treatments. That curiosity is what pulled me toward genomics, and eventually into bioinformatics, where I found the perfect intersection of biology, data, and problem-solving. For the past couple of years (approximately 2.5), I’ve been working in lab automation, helping turn raw experimental data into clean, structured insights that are used. A significant part of my role has been building pipelines to ensure that lab-generated data doesn’t just sit idle, but is automatically moved into global databases, ready for analysis that doesn't require manual entry. This eliminates not only the time-consuming process but also the error-prone nature of manually entering data. On the technical side, I’ve worked extensively with tools like AWS Lambda, RDS, and Benchling - building automation workflows that help labs run more efficiently and maintain consistent data. I’ve also developed APIs that take instrument data, validate it, and store it in structured formats, which has saved teams a lot of time and headaches. For me, bioinformatics isn’t just about coding or crunching data. It’s about making genomic information more usable - finding ways to apply it in real-world contexts, such as disease research and personalized medicine. Whether I’m streamlining lab processes or diving into genetic datasets, I’m always looking for ways to bridge the gap between raw data and biological understanding.
