My personal motto is 'shine and let shine'. I am a coaching leader who can inspire team members to use their talent and personally grow such that collaboration, team spirit and output increase. The pride of such an achievement definitely makes me shine. At the Dutch Safety Board, I am member of the Management Team and Investigation Manager of the transportation sections Shipping, Rail, and Road Traffic, in addition to the broader domains of Construction and Fire, Climate, Food Safety and Health. Through our investigations, we aim to improve public safety in The Netherlands. I have been involved in the publication of, amongst others, the reports 'Loss of containers from the MSC ZOE' and 'Who's in control? Road safety and automation in road traffic','Collisions and derailement Voorschoten', and 'Collapsed ramps of a parking garage'. Major investigations I am currently involved in are 'Safety risks induced by flooding and water nuisance' and 'Care for people with severe mental illness'. As a senior lecturer at the Erasmus University College I was responsible for teaching, guiding, and coaching ambitious students in their life science study. In addition, I was part of EUCs didactics team, and as such trained and coached junior teachers as part of their university teaching qualification program. Previously, I have worked as an assistant professor at the Erasmus MC Cancer Institute, where I have been involved in breast cancer proteomics research since 2004. I was the first to publish a validated prognostic proteomics signature for predicting disease outcome in aggressive breast cancer. Next to my academic work, I have been for 5 years board member and treasurer of VENA (Erasmus MC Network for Academic Women), a network that is dedicated to stimulate female professionals in their work. As such, I have organized several workshops on topics, such as 'work-life balance','scientific career and beyond','visibility', and 'storytelling'.
