ash busby is an educator committed to transformative justice, collective liberation and community care. ash recently finished their Ed.D. in Educational Leadership for Social Justice & Equity from San José State University where they researched the intersection of culturally responsive teaching and adult social emotional learning. Their research explored how developing teachers’ social, emotional and cultural competencies informs their beliefs, perceptions and classroom practice. They are a former teacher and instructional coach and currently serve as a lecturer in several Bay Area teacher training programs, where they focus on developing preservice teachers’ transformative social emotional learning competencies.
