About Asha Binbek

I’ve always been passionate about the power of storytelling to bridge ideas and inspire action. My career began in non-profits, where I saw firsthand how policy impacts people’s lives and how complex and inaccessible it can be. Wanting to make a bigger impact with my communications skills, I pursued a Master of Public Policy to better understand the issues and to translate complicated policy topics. I believe that access to information is key to helping people understand policy, so they can effectively engage and collaborate on solutions to global challenges. My time as Deputy Press Secretary for the former Mayor of Chicago was pivotal in my growth as a policy communications professional. I led communications for business partnerships with the city, learning how policy can drive local impact and deepening my commitment to making complex issues more accessible. Now, as a Program Manager for Microsoft’s United Nations and International Organizations team, I lead communications strategy, using storytelling to connect policy and technology with people’s everyday lives. I’m passionate about how technology can play a major role in solving global challenges, which is why I’m excited to work at Microsoft alongside my colleagues who are just as passionate about people and planet as I am.
