About Ashanti McGee

It is wonderful to see the ideas of an artist or community organizer unfold into a real experience. I have participated or volunteered in the Las Vegas arts community for more than ten years. I have had the opportunity of working with local, state, and regional arts groups that promote nonpartisan arts initiatives in the West. As part of the Western States Arts Federation emerging leaders of color alum, for two consecutive years, I have met with congressional members on Capitol Hill and meet with other arts organizers regionally to better connect the arts in the west. I volunteered my arts advocacy experience with Cultural Alliance Nevada, working in rural and urban spaces in Nevada to build a more cohesive and efficient arts community. Some of the projects I have worked on include Love for Literacy, individual grant writing, business grants (science, technology, and arts emphasis) and artist program grants. Not only am I a supporter of the arts. I am an artist with a background in painting, drawing, illustration, and sculpture. In my spare time, I also play trumpet and trombone. My current and past work professions build upon each other- As a docent at the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art, I shared with both local and international guests information about our current exhibition our and do my best to provide superior customer experience. Flock and Fowl I had the opportunity at one point- to manage more than 40 staff members of a well-beloved restaurant. I also wore many hats including serving, dish washing, barback, and cook. Get Outdoors Nevada, my love for the outdoors and connecting people along with a stellar team made managing the office a delightful experience. One job listed is freelance grant writer. I specialize in art, cultural, and literacy grant writing. I began working with a firm to write grants for technology and biofuel, but the project stopped abruptly. I would love to further explore these enterprises
