About Asher Burk

Asher Burk has served as a Legal Advocate for Women’s Resource Center since 2009. He assists victims of domestic violence by obtaining temporary protective orders, assisting with warrant applications, and coordinating with the police department, Sheriff’s Office, Solicitor’s Office and attorneys and judges to ensure the safety of victims and their children. He previously served as a visitation monitor at Nia’s Place, Women’s Resource Center’s supervised visitation and exchange center, ensuring that visits between parents and children remained safe. Prior to joining Women’s Resource Center, Asher served as Family Violence Intervention Program (FVIP) Manager for the Georgia Commission on Family Violence. He managed the application process for FVIP certification and recertification, made certification decisions, initiated the administrative and legal processes for decertification decisions, maintained the public list of certified FVIPs, guided FVIP policy development, supervised content and delivery of FVIP training, served on the department’s Standards and Protocols Committee. Prior to joining the Georgia Commission on Family Violence, Asher served as a co-facilitator with Men Stopping Violence, where he co-facilitated batterer’s intervention classes, assisted in planning the Annual Men and Masculinity Conference, was active in the Community Restoration Project, and lobbied for legislation to renew the Violence Against Women Act and remove the provision of presumed joint custody from Child Support law in the Georgia Legislature. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree from Guilford College in 2001.
