About Ashkan Paykar

I am a physicist. I love figuring out how the world works, but have particular interest in working at the atomic scale with new materials and methods that could potentially create new technologies or enhance our current technologies. I worked in the Biswas Lab at the University of Florida's Physics Department under Dr. Amlan Biswas studying thin film hole-doped manganites and created microstructures to study their phase-separated phenomena at the micrometer scale at temperatures below 100 K. At the same time, I worked as a teaching assistant for the second semester physics courses for many years, refining a discussion plan that I believe helped many students understand the key concepts of each week's lectures. I've also had experience as a head lecturer for the first semester physics course over two summer semesters creating lectures, exams, and delegating tasks to TAs. While doing research and teaching, I have presented my findings at multiple American Physical Society March Meetings throughout the years. I've recently graduated from the University of Florida with a Ph.D. in Physics and would like a job that can further develop my skills as a researcher/scientist but I'm also willing to teach physics at any university that needs an instructor.
