I love people. You'll always find me learning people’s stories, passions, and skills and then building them platforms for their creativity and goals. I love storytelling. Creating narratives that get people fired up, and help them understand complexities through simplification and artistry. I love problem solving. Helping people connect to resources and being a sounding board when they need an assist to thrive in their roles Skills- Mentoring and Coaching * Mentor dozens of volunteers at different points in their leadership development to become independent and well-equipped team leaders in their own right.* Focus on mentoring women who are often overlooked in organizations.* Developed training curriculum for community group leaders.* Coach a team of over twenty volunteer community group leaders in troubleshooting group dynamics, accessing social assistance and mental health resources and developing new leaders- Goal Setting and Strategy * I build systems from scratch, getting ideas from existing paradigms and adapting and innovating for the context I am in.* Four years ago I created the volunteer-led community group program, which now has 10 groups across the city of Toronto and serves intergenerational and socio-economically diverse populations.* I am adaptable and create adaptable teams, for example, when the pandemic hit Toronto my team of community group leaders independently pivoted to online gatherings and organizing grocery assistance within their groups. I then gathered their on-the-ground learning, shared it across the groups and offered them resources and solutions for challenges they identified- Communication * In my organization I am known for being the person who starts the needed hard conversation and who is not afraid to admit failure and learn from it.* I consistently advocate for the marginalized in meetings and in the way I build teams. This past month I developed an assessment tool for directors to use to assess themselves and their programs in order to identify the systemic racist barriers in our structures and develop sustainable anti-racism action plans.
