About Ashlee Mack

I have been performing and teaching for over 20 years and have given recitals in Germany, Italy, and across the United States. As a performer, I specialize in new music written by living composers. I have commissioned many new works and given numerous world-premiere performances. James Romig’s "Still," an album recorded by me and released by New World Records in 2018, was reviewed in The New Yorker, The Wire, and San Francisco Chronicle, among others. The work/album was recognized as a finalist for the 2019 Pulitzer Prize in Music. Along with my longtime friend Katherine Palumbo, I cofounded the Khasma Piano Duo, an ensemble dedicated to performing and recording music of the 20th and 21st centuries. Our albums "Switchback" and "Time Seems To Pass" are available at Amazon, iTunes, and Bandcamp. Additional recordings can be heard on Innova and Navona Records. An avid hiker and nature lover, I have been artist-in-residence at Everglades, Grand Canyon, and Petrified Forest National Parks, Wupatki National Monument, and Centrum in Fort Worden State Park. For the last 15+ years, I have been the Director of Piano Studies at Knox College in Galesburg, IL. At Knox, I maintain a private piano studio, teach a piano skills workshop, direct the Piano Chamber Ensemble, and oversee all things piano-related. I have taught adults with a variety of abilities — beginner though advanced — and enjoy working with all skill levels. I always strive to create a solid foundation that each one of my students can build upon.
