About Ashley Bolds

Ashley Bolds graduated from The Pennsylvania State University in 2023. She earned her Bachelor of Science through her major in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and minor in Microbiology. She was in the Millennium Scholars Program (MSP), which is a highly selective program for diverse and motivated scholars looking to obtain doctoral degrees after college graduation. MSP and Penn State provided her with unique opportunities to strengthen her interests in neuroscience through supporting her study abroad and mentorship endeavors. During undergrad she studied Biology of Eco-Health in Tanzania, East Africa and Cultural Studies in Australia and New Zealand. Additionally, she conducted various neuroscience research projects at UMN Medical School, Columbia University Medical Center, Penn State, and in Tanzania. Her career goals include obtaining an MD or MD/PhD, with hopes to become a physician and conduct translational or clinical research in the mental health or neurological realm. She is currently a Distinguished Postbaccalaureate Scholar at the NIH NIDDK. In addition to research, she is a trained Mental Health and Hotline Crisis Counselor for a non profit agency called Centre Helps, an alumna of the US Department of State Gilman Program, and a U.S Nationally Certified Emergency Medicine Technician (EMT).
