About Ashley Burt
You know what? People grow and change over time. Fourth grade me? They grew up to be severely mentally ill, and maybe that was for the better. I now realize that I want to work in victim advocacy, not mortuary science (although, mortuary science does still intrigue and excite me), and I'm, relatively speaking of course, much happier than I ever was pursuing a biochemistry degree. I've got personal experience(s) with the mental health industry that a textbook could never teach a psychologist. And maybe being put into inpatient psychiatric care isn't something to brag about to people outside of this field, but to me, it proves that I know what others like me are going through, and that I can better help them navigate their way through the system than any other victim advocacy or general psychology candidate out there.
