About Ashley Byars

A dedicated assistant principal committed to fostering teacher and student success through the integration and alignment of state, county and school initiatives. I aim to provide inclusive and equitable education for all students and an enjoyable workplace for all school staff. My academic background includes a master's degree in elementary education and school administration, during which I have consistently embraced innovative, research-based strategies and promoted a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement among educators. My commitment to professional growth is evidenced by my pursuit of ongoing professional development and relevant certifications. I have developed skills in coaching, public speaking, educational technology, and leadership, which I leverage to support my school community. As a North Carolina Principal Fellow, I earned a Master’s in School Administration from NC State University on a full scholarship, underlining my passion for being a transformative leader and advocate for staff, students, and families. In my current role as assistant principal, I actively support the School Improvement Plan (SIP) by collaborating with process managers and SIP subcommittees, ensuring high expectations for both students and staff. I oversee data management processes to facilitate timely analysis and decision-making. I advocate for robust instructional resources and practices, and I play a pivotal role in developing the master schedule, prioritizing the protection of teachers from unnecessary duties. I also focus on staff development through goal setting and recognition, and I contribute to building high-functioning, collaborative teams by vetting and selecting quality candidates.
