About Ashley Carr

I am an Architecture Masters student at the University of Oregon, Portland Campus. My research and professional interests are urban design, adaptive reuse and the design and use of public spaces. My current research is focused on programing and urban space design for an adaptive reuse project slated to become a market and community center for a developing neighborhood in Barcelona, Spain. I hope to use my findings from this work to inform a similar project in the United States as part of my final thesis. Prior to shifting to architecture I worked as a professional higher education librarian focused on instruction and library space planning. During this time I was actively involved in information literacy leadership within my college. I authored and assisted with the design of a suite of online information literacy tutorials which were nationally honored by the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL). I am skilled in digital design communication using Rhino, Grasshopper and Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere Pro and After Effects for video production. I am curious about the world and how things work and I love learning new skills and ideas. I excel in brainstorming, creative thinking and problem solving, and I work well with a team with a variety of viewpoints to bounce ideas off of.
