I have been working in the automotive industry for over 15 years and am currently employed as a consultant technician and workshop controller for Howards Citroen, MG, Honda and Suzuki which are all within the same building.I started my career in an independent garage which showed me that there is a person behind each vehicle being worked on and taught me that things can be repaired instead of just be replaced.From the independent garage I then joined Howards at their Citroen dealership as a senior technician and learnt alot of new processes that independent garages do not have.Once I had got settled in I relaised that I wanted to challenge myself and progress so I followed the training pathway to become and diagnostic technician and have recently become a consultant technician with Setllantis which includes becoming IMI level 3 high voltage qualified and refrigerant handling qualified. I am now progressing with my next challenge which is following the training pathway with MG. I have already obtained my silver award and am looking foward to the diagnostic qualification training this year.Working in independent and main dealer settings has given me a range of skills and working for multiple main dealer manufacturers has broadened my knowledge and abilities in many areas keeping me versatile and up to date on the latest automotive developments.As a consultant technician my roles range from servcing and MOT tests up to in depth diagnosis and both meanchincal and electrical repairs on a range of system including high voltage, adblue, air conditioning, engines and gearboxes.As a workshop controller my duties include assigning and monitoring work for 12 technicians along with quality control, ordering of parts, liasing with customer advisors and sales advisors and also dealing with customers on a one to one basis. We also have three apprentices so I am responsible for their requirements and development.My current roles can be demanding at times but they are rewarding and I like to challenge and to progress myself to be a better technician, controller and person.
