About Ashley Ermold

My experience with children started long before I stepped into the classroom as an educator. I have compiled nearly 7 years with the YMCA working in there summer care program as well as before and after school care programs for children aged 1-11 years. These 12 plus years of working with children have allowed me to acquire many skills that I still use today. My time with the YMCA from 2007-2014 taught me many things about how school aged and younger children begin to formulate many of the skills and behaviors that they will carry with them for the rest of there life. Being a part of these formative years gave me a look into how creating a relationship where there is mutual respect, while proving to a child that you will be a consistent part of there day to day life who holds them accountable along with being fair can really forge a bond to alleviate some of the potential behavioral concerns that can arise. The time that I spent as a substitute as well as my current role of having my own full time classroom since 2016 as a high school Science Teacher has given me the opportunity to "complete the circle" and see how the ground work that was laid the years prior to them entering high school impacts there experience in the classroom and continue to grow that relationship. I have been able to hone my classroom management, time management, relationship building, and assessment skills in this latest professional stage of my life. The most important lesson that I have learned in all of these experiences is that if you truly have a passion for the growth in both an educational and personal development light of every mind that you come across, you will always have significantly more good days than bad. Every profession has it's challenges, but the skills that I have amassed over my years of experience have given me a great foundation to build upon for the rest of my career.
