About Ashley Jackson

Charlotte native, 2020 Inagural Actionist of WE GOT GOT US NOW, the nation’s leading 501(c)(3)built by, led by, and about children and young adults impacted by the collateral damage of parental incarceration. As of 2022, she joined the organization full-time as Director of Operations. Before her current role, she served as Justice Program Assistant at Dream Corps (now Dream.org), where she supported programmatic efforts to build consensus for criminal legal reform at the state and federal level - in addition to supporting initiation and planning efforts of the Justice Innovation Prize to disrupt the prison industry. Ashley also brings reentry and workforce development experience as Program Assistant and Client Advisor for The Center for Community Transitions, where she helped provide returning citizens with basic needs and employment readiness services - now serving as a Board Member. Prior to committing to the nonprofit space, Ashley gained valuable experience as a Human Resources and Talent acquisition professional at the corporate offices of Belk, Ingersoll Rand (now Trane Technologies), and Alorica. She has been recognized as City Startup Lab's Best in Class 2017, Charlotte Mecklenburg Black Chamber of Commerce 2018 30 under 30, and the YWCA Central Carolina's 2020 Women of Achievement Emerging Leader. Most notably, she helped advocate for and petition for the release of her father, uncle, and cousin, who all served 31 years in federal prison—they were released in 2021. Ashley uses her lived experience and relationship-building to foster the change she wants to see in her community.
