Hello! My name is Ashley and I am a nurse of 8 years! I began working in a Medical Surgical ICU right out of nursing school. My attention to detail and eagerness to learn allowed me to move into a charge nurse position within my first year. I analyzed patient acuity to appropriately create daily nurse assignments. I participated in unit audits which included reviewing clinical documentation, documentation integrity, unit infection rate statistics, as well as unit governance. I went into travel nursing for a year after my initial staff nurse position to experience new places and put my ability to adapt to change to the test. I quickly learned several new EMR systems. This prepared me immensely for my next role in Interventional Radiology. This role involved caring for patients across all levels of care, outpatient to critical care. Learning to adapt to changes in patients conditions proactively was required, this called for close attention to patient data/vitals to help anticipate impeding changes. Taking a step away from the bedside I began my current role as a Remote Telephone Triage Nurse. This role has a great work life balance and is very rewarding. I am able to remotely assess and relay data collected to patients care teams and develop the best plans for the individual. Urgent issues are handled independently using nursing judgment and shared with the patients team once addressed. My experience has allowed me to develop excellent attention to detail, ability to quickly adjust plans according to data, and the ability to adapt to different work environments.
