About Ashley McCay

Currently working as a Community Support Specialist and Outpatient Therapist with PRS, Inc. providing mental health community based services. I graduated from Marymount University with an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in May 2021 and Forensic and Legal Psychology in May 2016. I have studied a broad range of issues related to the field of mental health and forensics. I took a volunteer trip to Southeast Asia in October 2016 where I worked with disadvantaged populations in Vietnam and Thailand. I have engaged in extensive research and study of the DSM 5 as well as completed multiple case analyses. My research focus and experience has been predominantly on sexual offenders, sexual violence, sexual disorders, as well as psychotic disorders. I have also done research on childhood trauma and attachment. I completed a study abroad program in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, Cambodia, where I studied human trafficking and social justice issues. I subsequently completed a research paper about reproductive health among sex workers in Cambodia. I have experience working in both the legal and mental health systems. Most of my experience has been working with offenders and attorneys. I am well versed in legal issues as well as psychopathology of offenders. I also have experience with providing individual counseling and psychoeducational group counseling to clients. I am passionate about mental health reform, offender rehabilitation, mitigation work, gender issues, and working with disadvantaged populations. I received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Louisiana State University in 2014.
