Background
About Ashley Roberts
After spending a decade in retail management and logistics leadership, I made an intentional shift into peer support and harm reduction back in 2023. Finally stepping into a career that aligns with my values and makes a positive impact on my community and the world around me. I was introduced to the harm reduction philosophy through attending large-scale music events that intentionally embedded this philosophy into their community culture. Those experiences led me to contracted, event based harm-reduction roles, where I witnessed firsthand how dignity, autonomy, and non-judgmental support around substance use creates safety, builds trust, and saves lives. This work inspired me to carry those same ethics beyond temporary event settings and into everyday systems of care.Today, I am a Certified Recovery Mentor II and Certified Peer Support Specialist with lived experience and a deep commitment to harm reduction. Having walked my own unconventional path to recovery, my work and advocacy are grounded in that same dignity, autonomy, and non-judgmental care that I was introduced to in those event spaces, and have been further refined with the trauma-informed and culturally competent skills I have developed through peer trainings and hands-on work. I am deeply interested in contributing to conversations around systems change in drug policy and exploring alternate pathways to healing from substance use disorders. I aspire to one day facilitate groups and workshops that recognize the reality that substance use, misuse, and dependency exist on a spectrum, and that honor recovery as a deeply personal, ever evolving process rather than a one-size-fits-all outcome.
