About Ashley Rustin
I joined UCT in as a Novell Systems Engineer in ICTS after eight years working as a school teacher in the Western Cape. I worked my way up to become a Senior Technical Specialist in the Computing Platforms team responsible for the Microsoft Services platform and other enterprise systems such as ImageNow, Syllabus Plus, RMS, Third Party System and SharePoint. I was one of the first members of the eResearch team. I was seconded to assist with eResearch projects from December 2013. In my present position I engage with researchers, advising on the best technologies to enhance research output. My role is to understand the IT requirements of researchers and work with them to design and implement solutions to best address their unique requirements.
