About Ashley Simpson

I am a Wet'suwet'en/Scottish/English woman, mother, auntie, and scholar and a grateful guest on unceded, ancestral Coast Salish territories. I hold a Master of Public Health with a specialization in Indigenous Peoples’ Health and am currently pursuing a PhD in the Social Dimensions of Health program at the University of Victoria. Through my work as a qualitative health researcher, I am committed to advancing Indigenous self-determination in health and community-led health systems change. My work is grounded within a social justice lens, walking alongside Indigenous communities and organizations across British Columbia in ways that center community-led solutions, relational accountability, and Indigenous ways of knowing and being. I carry knowledge and experience in the areas of Indigenous research methodologies, sexual health and reproductive justice, maternal, child and family health, and harm reduction.
