Qualifications and professional memberships include: ME(Civil), FEngNZ, CPEng, IntPE(NZ), SESOC, NZSEE Ashley joined Structure Design in September 2013 as a Director after managing his own structural engineering design company for 7 years. He has over 30 years’ experience, with particular expertise in the design of commercial and residential high-rise buildings, long span structures, assessment and strengthening of existing buildings, complex structural and seismic analysis and forensic engineering review of structural problems and building collapses. Project highlights prior to joining Structure Design included design of the Vero, PwC and Quay West towers, and seismic strengthening of the historic Farmers building in Auckland, design of the Century Tower in Tokyo Japan and investigation of the CTV Building collapse in Christchurch and Stadium Southland collapse in Invercargill. Ashley joined the Structure Design leadership team as the Director responsible for growing the technical expertise of the company, to complement the established creative culture, and to allow the company to expand further and to take on larger and more challenging projects. Previously on the head committee for the Concrete Structures Standard NZS3101 and also with extensive experience in the design of structures in other materials including structural steel, stainless steel, concrete masonry, aluminium, timber and glass. Past President and Life Member of the New Zealand Structural Engineering Society (SESOC).
